全球500强企业ABB在华本地企业厦门ABB电器控制设备有限公司对位于厦门围里的工厂园区进行了中央空调通风节能系统改造，改造后至今的半年时间里，用电量同比减少40%，节电约40万度，节约资金33万元，设备改造成本预计1年内收回。
2010年起，厦门ABB电器控制设备有限公司针对工厂园区的用电进行统计分析，发现中央空调和通风系统年耗电高达140万度，占整个园区总用电总量的57%。为此，公司将中央空调通风系统节能改造定为2011年重点技术改造项目。技术人员为空调系统的冷冻水泵、冷却水泵、冷却水塔风机、风柜组的电机加装了ABB变频器，并通过智能控制系统对空调系统各个部分实现集中控制，使空调系统实现了定时分区开关功能和远程控制，同时各个耗能设备可以根据末端负载变化实时自动调整运行频率，降低了设备的运行功率。经过一系列的设备和流程改造，节电效果凸显，空调系统半年内同比节能降耗近40%。
